SMHC Featured in New England Journal of Medicine
St. Mary's Health Clinics' collaboration with the Mexican Consulate was the focus of a recent New England Journal of Medicine article. The authors explored how the two entities worked together to knock down public health and health care silos in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The authors note,
"We had significant success in reaching the Latine community because of a long-standing collaboration with St. Mary’s Health Clinics and the Mexican Consulate. … the Mexican Consulate is a trusted hub within the Latine community, serves more than 100,000 Mexican immigrants monthly, and provides an extensive range of legal services. The Mexican Consulate was able to counteract vaccine hesitancy among this key demographic, and St. Mary’s deep ties and trusted status within the community enabled their multilingual staff to reach and educate the community through numerous channels."
